The Mom-trepreneurs Juggling Act

Starting a family – or adding to it – always comes with challenges, especially for working women. At some point, we’re faced with one of the many life-altering decisions that comes with bringing a child into the world.

Do you continue to follow your career dreams? Do you stay home and raise your children?

Yes. And yes.

Take it from me, you CAN do both. There’s only one thing you can’t do, as Sramana Mitra posted on LinkedIn, and that’s give up. Check out the post, which highlights how one mom-trepreneur chose to give birth to something else … a new career.

A frequent online bargain hunter, Jana Francis launched Steals.com in 2008 after having her third child. She created flexibility, allowing her to work from home and raise her kids while enjoying a fulfilling and profitable career.

Now she has 70 full-time employees and went from going into labor, to profiting from her labor of love. Talk about hitting the mother lode!

As the mother of a 1-year-old daughter myself, I’m not going to tell you it’s easy to juggle parenting with running your own business. It takes incredible passion and commitment. And trust me, giving birth to your own business is the far less painful of the two.
