Does Your Guy/Gal Make You Smile?

Does Your Guy/Gal Make You Smile? Relationships are supposed to be fun, especially early on! Sounds pretty straight-forward, right? Well sometimes we end up in unhappy relationships by month one or two and this just shouldn’t be. The initial months should be a blissful journey of fun, excitement, and passion. Sadly, we sometimes get preoccupied with other relationship objectives and enjoying our partner somehow gets unconsciously moved to the bottom of the list.

This happened to me with a guy that I was seeing a few years ago. He was really nice and had a lot of great qualities but we didn’t have a lot in common. We hardly had anything to say to each other and we were just going through the motions in our relationship. I think we liked the idea of being in each other’s lives more than we actually liked being together. It was definitely a relationship of comfort and convenience and I started to feel lonely and unhappy when I was with him. That was a sure sign that things were out-of-wack!

Sometimes we want to be with someone so bad that we forget to listen to ourselves and sometimes the idea of being with someone is better than actually being with them. We might be miserable but we stick around because we are comfortable. Comfort has its place but what’s the point of dating somebody if you’re not happy when you’re with them? If you’re not having fun early on in the relationship that is a clear sign that something’s missing.

Don’t settle! Seek true happiness! If you aren’t smiling and laughing with your partner, maybe you should take a second look.
